Jay Thompson, Cincinnati coal and mining owner, must pay Mary Mitchell $133000 monthly until Dec 1 1980 after US District Judge Bailey Brown ruled a 1970 marriage contract valid. Plano ISD to dedicate ninth elementary Davis Elementary

Plano Independent School District will formally dedicate its ninth elementary today at 2 p.m. at Oleny Davis Elementary School. Dedicatory speakers include Davis Thompson and Olney Joe Beckham, grandsons of the namesake Olney Davis. Dorothy Davis Inglehart will present a portrait, with four surviving daughters introduced by Principal Jim Johns.

Veterinary Clinic P Z to Meet Monday for Site Plan

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets Monday at 7 30 p m at the Municipal Building to evaluate a site plan for a proposed veterinary clinic on the southeast corner of Parker Rd and Custer Rd the one acre tract would host 3237 sq ft of enclosed space. They will also discuss amendments to zoning ordinance 69-8-1 to create between SF 1 and ED districts and consider rezoning 397 6 acres east of Parker Rd north of Marchmans Ranch Estates to add retail SF-1 MF 2 single family attached MF 2 and office. The July 16 public hearing on zoning case 73-23 drew opposition and 11 letters against. five in favor. Spring Creek Parkway alignment is also on the agenda.

Dallas youths questioned in double murder and attempted murder

Police say a 17 year old confessed to two killings and an attempted murder tied to sexual assaults on men. Five youths in a stolen car were arrested after the driver Craig Morris Pugh 21 vanished and his nude body was later found in a Fort Worth park.

District Buys 111.9 Acre Land Site for Plano Schools

The district bought 111.9 acres in northeast Plano known as the Merriman tract from a joint venture for 671700. Plans include an east side 11 12 grade senior high school and possibly an elementary or middle school with other uses. Hendrick notes no immediate need for the high school before 1980 but buys now before prices rise.
