Residents may comment on the city proposed 4.5 million operating fund budget Monday at 7 30 p m in the municipal building The 1975 76 program of service will not raise taxes The 75 cent rate divides 49 13 cents to the general fund and 25 87 cents to the interest and sinking fund The hearing covers general and water and sewer fund appropriations and revenues.
An additional two hours of testimony followed six hours the day prior as opponents and supporters debated environmental impacts of Richardson Municipal Airport. FAA will receive transcripts to decide on a 2.1 million funds request for a 4000-foot runway on a 73 acre site near Shiloh Airpark.
The Plano League for Environmental Action plans a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the First National Bank Community Room with Bud Lang and Drake Bundy as speakers to discuss PLEA's future and possible projects. A separate budget briefing outlines city revenues and expenditures including police at 25 percent of the general fund, health department creation, and a 25 cent monthly garbage rate increase.
The Collin County Commissioners Court will review about 10 agenda items starting at 9 a.m. Monday after a one week recess. The session follows last Monday’s break and will cover financial plans and budget priorities for the county.
TP and L opens a 4900 square foot Plano facility at 1130 15th St with 51 employees. The building houses customer accounting and service, plus a community room available to groups after 5 p.m. weekdays and weekends. A drive through window for bill payments is included. Police uncovered a bicycle theft ring Friday morning. Five juveniles were arrested and released to Juvenile Officer Pete Barnes in connection with the incident. Police also took a report of child abuse and investigated an auto theft and two residential burglaries. Officers answered 44 calls and arrested three persons for no driver license and warrants from Dallas and Plano. Two minor accidents were reported Thursday with collisions involving Mae Isaacs and Daniel Truskey Jr. at Jupiter and 15th, and Patricia Brooks and Robert Nordmeyer in Park Mall parking.
The City of Plano receives a 12917 dollar grant from the Governor's Office of Traffic Safety to implement the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program STEP. Governor Dolph Briscoe notes STEP uses off duty officers at overtime pay to patrol hazardous intersections to reduce crashes and injuries.
An organizational meeting for a Young Democrats Club is set for today at 2 p.m. at Collin County Democratic Headquarters 926 E. 15th Street. The group targets ages 14 to 21 with Bill and Cheryl Rushing as sponsors. Parents may attend and refreshments will be served.
