Rita Raper Named Woman of the Year by Plano B&PW Club
Rita Raper was chosen as Woman of the Year by the Plano Piano Business and Professional Women’s Club. The award honors a business and professional woman for career distinction and service to working women in research education and volunteer action. She will represent the club for the District Woman of the Year at the State Convention Presidents Banquet in June 1974. Raper is deputy tax assessor collector for Plano and the Plano ISD, and has long served in the tax office. She has led multiple club roles, chaired events, and contributed to civic and church activities in Plano, including involvement with the March of Dimes and Heart Fund drives.

Excellence Award To Star-Courier at Dallas banquet

No Lights For Plano This Year
The Plano Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division will not light Christmas decorations this year in keeping with a conservation message. Decorations bought last year will be hung downtown without electricity. Last year the division replaced Plano’s Christmas lights after a fire at Murrell’s Hardware Store.
