Plano City Council grants a public hearing for a Texas Power & Light rate increase of about ten percent to be held Monday, November 26, with TP&L manager Jim Taylor present. The hearing is part of a regional effort across the 240 city service area.
Collin County Commissioners postpone signing Loop 9 documents for one week at the request of McKinney attorney Roland Boyd to allow time for additional information. Hospital itemized statements, street maintenance request, deputy sheriff appointment, mental health clinic support, tax rate reduction and rebates also discussed amid a special session with tense exchanges over Tiki Creek Park road work. A launchpad engineer found a second set of cracks in the Skylab 3 booster rocket delaying liftoff for the last space station crew. Officials rescheduled to Friday with doubt the rookie astronauts Gerald Carr Edward Gibson and William Pogue will depart then. The next opportunities are Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Plano Chamber of Commerce will offer a free hot check and shoplifting clinic for business employees Tuesday November 20 at 7:30 p.m. The session aims to help merchants prevent fraud and theft and will include guidance for handling hot checks and potential shoplifting incidents.
The Plano City Council approved the Star-Courier as the official newspaper for the second straight year. More than 11 620 students in Plano Independent School District will leave at 2 30 p m Thursday for an afternoon in service program for teachers. Buses will run at 2 30 p m to return students home. This is the second of several such dismissals this year with two more on Feb 28 and Apr 25. Each of the district 13 schools will hold its own two hour staff in service session.
