Gas shift to TUFCO customers under 1969 contract
A 1969 contract caused 330 million cubic feet of natural gas to shift yesterday to Texas Utilities Fuel Co. customers in North Texas, including Plano and 322 other cities. The move, ordered for Nov 1 1973, is under Austin hearings by the Texas Railroad Commission amid disputes with La-Vaca Gathering Co. customers in San Antonio, Austin, the University of Texas, and the Colorado River Authority.

Plano Keeps Lowest City Tax in Nine Dallas Suburbs
A poll of nine suburban Dallas cities shows Plano with the lowest city tax rate at 67 cents per $100 valuation, well below Mesquite at 99 cents. Plano ISD also has low school taxes at 1.44 per $100, while Mesquite pays 1.37. The chart lists city and school rates, valuations, and estimated ad valorem tax income for Richardson, Garland, Mesquite, Irving, McKinney, Lewisville, Farmers Branch, Carrollton, and Plano.

Garage sales raise 2279 for Greg Chambers Fund
The Plano Citizens Band Radio Club raised 2279 for Greg Chambers Fund over two weekend garage sales. Charles Merritt credited Plano residents as fantastic as items were donated. The fund aids the Chambers family with hospital bills after four year old Greg died of cancer at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

Plano's planning area grows from 11 225 acres in 1962 to over 33 000 in 1973 with mobile home land added. Single family dwelling gains dominate, multi family area rises from 3.7 to 136.4 acres, retail and public uses expand, parks surge from 15.8 to 267.2 acres, and streets per 100 residents drop from 7.66 to 6.05 while residential land per 100 rises to 7.04.
