Plano Senior High Baccalaureate and Graduation Plans

Baccalaureate services are tonight in the Activities Building with Father Pichard delivering the sermon and music by the PSHS Concert Choir. Graduation for about 630 seniors follows Monday at Moody Coliseum SMU with diplomas conferred by school leaders and three student speakers. David York leads honor graduates with 96.81 average. Dorothy Rabbe is salutatorian at 96.73.

Memorial Day Services At Ridgeview Park North Of Plano

Observance set for Ridgeview Memorial Park at 10 a.m. with VFW and American Legion posts from Plano McKinney and Celina involved. Connie Armstrong to speak introduced by Nathan White Jr. ROTC to post colors, National Anthem by H T Wright, invocation by Richard Gilbert, benediction by Troy Corzine. Veterans roll call read by Harry Hardin. Gold Star Mothers honored. Sugar and Spice Singers perform. Flags installed in Avenue of Flags after early breakfast. Coffee served at 8:30 a.m. in a Ridgeview tent near Field of Honor. all Plano area residents invited.

Gas Plentiful For Motorists During Memorial Day Weekend

AAA survey of 291 Texas stations shows average full service prices 54.3 cents for regular 56.5 for unleaded 58.2 for premium. Self service saves about four cents. Only 6 percent will close on Memorial Day. 79 percent will operate Sunday. Gas price spreads range from 44.9 to 62.7 for regular and 47.9 to 63.9 for unleaded and 46.9 to 69.9 for premium.

Capitol Beckons Wildcat Band For Washington D C Festival

Capitol beckons Capitol Beckons Piano Senior High School Wildcat Band to compete in the Festival of Nations in Washington D C June 1 4 Directed by Emmitt Clem the 132 musicians will also perform on the Capitol steps Wednesday morning and tour monuments FBI headquarters and the White House They will be hosted by Congressman Jim Collins and Performing Arts Abroad with a moonlight Potomac cruise and a Thursday awards banquet The group raised 17869 48 in fundraisers including fertilizer sales inventories and restaurant proceeds.

Special mobiles mark summer reading program at library

New Hours Announced For Pool In Plano Summer Schedule

The Plano Parks and Recreation Dept moves Community Natatorium to summer hours from Monday to Saturday 1 30 to 9 p m and Sunday 1 to 6 p m. Admission is 75 cents for ages seven and up if no tag is bought. six and under admitted free with adult in swimwear.

Two Homes Ripped Off In Fox & Jacobs Area Burglaries

Several appliances were taken from two homes under construction in the Fox & Jacobs area late this week. Police handled two burglaries of motor vehicles a theft of a clarinet and an auto theft along with 62 calls for assistance four reports of criminal mischief and seven arrests including four juveniles for truancy two for criminal mischief and one for driving while intoxicated. Three accidents were reported including a 5 38 p.m. collision involving a 1973 Chevrolet and a 1973 Mercury at Avenue L and 18th St. A separate 6 30 p.m. crash at Avenue K and Park involved a 1972 Chrysler and a 1964 Pontiac.

Plano Observes Memorial Day Holiday Across City

Memorial Day May 31 will be observed with city offices county sub courthouse school district offices and the U S Post Office closed. There will be no mail delivery or garbage pickup and the landfill will be closed. Regular pickups resume Tuesday with some residents awaiting Thursday pickup. City animal shelter closed. emergencies go through Police Dept at 424 5678. Planning and Zoning Commission and Collin County Commissioners Court will not meet.

New Principals Named for Wilson Middle and Sigler Elementary

Superintendent H Wayne Hendrick announces Dr Justin M Wakeland as Wilson Middle principal and Raymond Anderson as Sigler Elementary principal. Wakeland leaves Dallas ISD where he led Benjamin Franklin Junior High. Anderson was Corsicana ISD assistant superintendent and a former teacher coach in Bonham Corsicana and Houston. Both are married with two children, replacing Jim Dickson at Wilson and Bill Loggins at Sigler who move to Plano ISD roles.

Trustees To Tour Plano Senior High School

Plano Trustees meet at Plano Senior High School at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a walk through of the facility before considering final project acceptance. Architectural firm Jarvis Putty Jarvis and Batson Cook as representatives join the tour and review in Building B Administrative Conference Room. The visit follows discussion of the English curriculum for seniors.
