Fifty years ago today the Spirit of St Louis flew from Roosevelt Field to Paris in a 3 600 mile nonstop solo flight by Charles Lindbergh Jr. The lone pilot faced fog and danger, landed at Le Bourget at 10 24 p m Paris time, and the world hailed the feat that launched commercial air travel.

Information and Referral Service to aid Plano residents
Kathi Muse leads Plano’s new Information and Referral Service opening June 6 with United Way funding. The center will operate three telephone lines from the old Douglass school, linking callers to suitable agencies, recruiting volunteers, and recording data to aid long term planning. About 20 of a hoped-for 30 volunteers are already signed up, with calls kept confidential and donations sought.
