Elated crowds welcome Plano’s Jim Bannon returning to the public eye as Red Ryder. Bannon, who left Hollywood for radio and later settled in Plano with his wife Barbara and three children, will ride again in the Plano Bicentennial parade on July 3 as Grand Marshal.
Final class day for Plano Independent School District students will be Thursday May 27 with 2 30 pm dismissal. The change follows the district calendar allowing the end of school to move up if no bad weather day was used.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will meet Monday at 7 30 p m to consider three final plats a land study and a zoning case. Tickets go on sale Monday for A Bicentennial Blast at Williams High School auditorium Friday June 11. Town North SPEBSQSA chorus of 70 with two quartets performs a humorous 200 year musical history of America. Tickets $3 at local stores or by mail order.
Chelle Chulick of Plano High School earned a second prize spot in a Levi Strauss and Co. design contest for girls 14 to 24. Her middy jacket and light blue denim skirt design with orange top stitching will be made in Levi's for Gals studio. Chelle, 17, moved from New York with her Xerox-employed father Mr. Michael J. Chulick and will graduate in November to study art at North Texas State University.
