Reddy wins court order blocking film over appearance rights

In Los Angeles Helen Reddy obtained a temporary court injunction blocking Theatrical Corp. of America from distributing The Great Fairs until a $100,000 bond is posted and a hearing can be held. She claims the film violates her final approval rights and could harm her reputation.

Ford praises Richardson at retail federation meeting

President Ford lauded Commerce Secretary Elliot Richardson calling him the secretary of defense with wisdom and experience. Ford said Richardson has done a fine job and is an outstanding cabinet member during brief remarks at the American Retail Federation annual meeting.

Four Burglaries Reported to Plano Police

Four burglaries reported to Plano police on Wednesday included thefts from C D Graham Construction Co at 612 E 16th St a citizen band radio an adding machine and one residence and two motor vehicles were burglarized. Additional reports included gasoline hub caps a bicycle and a reported indecency with a child involving a father and daughter alleged to have occurred three years ago. Police handled 45 calls for assistance a criminal mischief report and arrests of four persons including three juvenile runaways from San Antonio and one juvenile for theft.

University of Plano to Close Liberal Arts Program

Amid rumors of financial trouble and internal strife the University of Plano will close its liberal arts program. Academic Dean Helen Harkness says most faculty and students seek affiliation with another institution likely Columbia College of Columbia Missouri. Representatives visited Plano to discuss options for students with civic leaders.

Liberal Arts Program Suspended At Plano University

University of Plano faces severe financial problems and suspends its liberal arts program for at least one year. President Dr Robert Morris cites liquidity issues and a debt of 400000 against 1600000 in assets while selling 720 acres since 1966 to cover expenses. The Frisco campus may be kept for the College of the Air. Columbia College is considering absorbing students and credits.
