Around June 1 a Cambodian family of four will arrive in Plano to start a new life. They are among the first evacuated from Cambodia and have been billeted at Camp Pendleton awaiting sponsorship. The Resurrection Lutheran Church of Plano will sponsor them. pastor Arlyn L Tolzmann leads the church.

April Building Permits Decline in Plano
Plano issued 115 single family permits in April, down from 152 in March and 155 in April 1974. Yearly totals fell 43 percent to 422 permits by end of April, with homes valued at 2.93 million vs 3.77 million a year earlier. Other permits included three duplexes, one retail, two offices valued at 601,510 and 24 single family additions plus six retail, one school and two offices.

Dyson named executive director of Texas Organized Crime Prevention Council
Frank Dyson, former Dallas police chief, was named executive director by Attorney General John Hill and DPS Director Wilson E. Speir, co chairmen. Dyson served 23 years on Dallas police and four years as chief, and has held roles on the Governor's Criminal Justice Council and the National Council on Crime and Delinquency. The council will develop a statewide plan to prevent organized crime and coordinate local law enforcement efforts.
