Morning House Fire on Brooks Road Damages Home
A fire woke a mother and her five year old child at 7 54 am destroying a residence on Brooks Road three quarters of a mile north of Villa Casita. Fire Marshal Bill Threet said the attic and a bedroom bath suffered most of the loss. Owner Billy Joe Hicks valued the structure at about 5000 with furnishings over 5000. Eleven firefighters, including off duty men, fought the blaze. A second fire at 2409 Teakwood a grease fire was extinguished at 8 16 am.
