Plan for Bill 624 Endorsement by Collin County Court

Collin County Commissioners plan to endorse House Bill 624 at a Monday 9 am meeting to expand services at subcourthouses by lowering the census threshold to 17 500 from 20 000. The measure, led by Rep. Bob Hendricks, would affect Plano and other towns and may pass in April. Also on the agenda are a Lake Lavon water zoning plan by Game Warden Bergstrom and courthouse jail construction changes. The court will review a contract linking Collin County with Hunt and other parties.

Degree Value of Education in Collin County Incomes

National data show Collin County four year college graduates earn about 58 percent more over a career than high school graduates while high school graduates earn 39 percent more than elementary graduates. The annual median indicates college graduates earn about 4 850 dollars more than high school grads. The 1960 local figures show 48 percent high school and 10 percent college graduates. The county youth barn committee seeks county funding and a Cancer Crusade campaign kicks off in Plano with 500-plus volunteers.

City Plans Annexation Spurs Plano Growth Moves

Plano prepares to annex land north of Renner between Preston Rd and the Denton county line in response to Dallas annexation pressure. The Willow Bend Addition development would mix residential retail and recreation, with hearings set at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building.

Absentee voting ends Tuesday for city and school races

Two days remain to vote absentee in the April 2 city and school elections. As of Friday, 25 city votes and 23 school votes were cast. Absentee ballots close at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the School Administration Building and city site, with polls open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Wilson Middle School and Bowman Middle School.

Dinner Play Planned By Armstrong Players

The Armstrong Players stage Reynard the Fox at Armstrong Middle School with two 7:30 p.m. shows on April 4 and 5. An optional 6:30 p.m. dinner precedes the April 5 performance. Tickets for dinner and show cost 3 dollars. April 4 admission is 1 dollar. Cast includes Bryce Lester, Jeff Akens, Cindy Wright, Leanne Earp, Greg Seeley, and others under director Debra Yenne.

Check Due On Voting Equipment For Plano ISD Election

A validity test of the electronic voting equipment for the April 2 Plano Independent School District Board of Trustees election will be held at 2 30 p m Wednesday March 30 at the School Administration Building 1517 Avenue H McKinney Helen Starnes of the County Clerk's office will conduct the test to ensure the tabulating equipment counts votes accurately. Mrs Starnes and Jerry Smith will also conduct an instructional session for judges and clerks at the same time.
