The Plane Fire Department extinguished 19 minor blazes in that period led by Chief Lee Mayfield. Grass fires numbered seven and six were due to electrical appliances. Crews also tackled a vacant house fire on Old Coit Rd autos fires trash and a grease fire. They handled five smoke or odor calls four water problems and freed a child’s finger from a metal object.
