Board Rejects Two Textbooks in PISD Session
Two textbooks protested by parents were rejected by the PISD board of trustees in a Tuesday vote. A high school speech book titled Communication Interacting Through Speech was rejected 4 to 2, and a middle school reader Signposts failed 4 to 3 with President Rutledge Haggard casting the deciding vote. He noted none objection but voted against adopting a text opposed by half the board. About 100 people attended the meeting.
