Study calls school violence a serious national problem

A UPI report by Ed Rogers quotes a research study labeling assault gang warfare robbery and other violence in U.S. schools as a serious costly national issue. While exact figures are not available the study notes increasing assaults on teachers and students gang activity intimidation fear and vandalism driving a high toll.

A Philadelphia based report funded by a 117000 grant from Law Enforcement Assistance Administration argues serious disruption in schools demands a national effort. It cites one quarter of 595 Black students feeling unsafe and mothers fearing child assault as violence rises 1970 to 1973.

Plano Police Uncover Sticks of Dynamite in 1700 Block

Plano officers found several sticks of dynamite in the 1700 block of Lakehill and report no explosives thefts by local companies. Investigation continues alongside probes of one residence burglary, two motor vehicle burglaries, a theft and two criminal mischief cases. Police answered 37 calls and made four arrests. An accident occurred at 8 23 a m at 18th Street and Jupiter Road involving a 1970 Chevrolet and a 1969 Ford. Building permits surged in February with 217 issued totaling 5 432 240 in value, plus increases from January and 1974 figures.

Reagan Aims for Texas Win in GOP Primary Push

Campaign spokesman Ray Barnhart of Texas Citizens for Reagan says Ronald Reagan will win the Texas presidential primary and other Southern and Western delegations. He cites a two thirds delegate target of 100 Texas delegates and asserts Reagan can secure at least 66 delegates to clinch the nomination in Kansas City. Barnhart brushes aside talk of recent losses, calls Texas a key state, and notes Florida is not a typical Southern state due to retiring Yankees.
