Alex Haley says he cannot write a sentence since Roots made him famous. He plans a sequel to the 12 hour TV drama and would like to retreat to his old Greenwich Village one room apartment for peace while pondering when he can write again.
Postmaster General Benjamin Bailar told a House subcommittee the 13-cent stamp remains viable and no rate increases are needed before early 1978. He said the Postal Service’s financial position is no longer in decline and pensions the current trend.
Plano leaders unanimously approve a master plan to guide growth to a 250000 population. In a joint Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council session officials question planning consultant Marvin Springer on thoroughfares parks and land use for the 70 square mile city.

Four burglars were captured thanks to alert residents and a realtor who reported suspicious activity. A man tracked license plates and identified two youths at about 6 p m, leading to arrests at their Plano homes. Investigations noted multiple burglaries and disturbances with 85 calls for assistance and one major accident.
