February crime report shows surge in theft and burglaries
A monthly FBI report notes crime rising 50 percent from January and 88.3 percent from last year with a February murder. Burglaries and thefts climb while assaults fall. Auto thefts double. February 1975 comparisons show thefts up 117 percent.

Theft Up sharply as February Crime Figures Released
The department reports large percentage increases in thefts led by shoplifting up 214 percent and auto parts theft up 187 percent. In February 22 shopliftings occurred, 46 auto part thefts were logged, with 11 motor vehicle thefts and 12 miscellaneous thefts.

Suspect Nabbed in Plano Marijuana Bust Eight Arrested
Garland officers arrested William Beck on a warrant and moved six suspects to Collin County Jail after a sting in Plano. Five others were detained Thursday night and two more, Hubert Beanbenship and Mark Wilder, remain at large on drug delivery charges. Nine additional arrests included juveniles for truancy and mischief. Police logged 68 calls, four accidents, and noted two burglaries and several thefts.
