Peace Justice Gives Up Post in Plano

Plano Justice of the Peace C J Prashaw resigns after an executive session of Collin County Commissioners Court. Judge Nathan K White Jr says Prashaw will serve until a successor is named with parties to nominate candidates for a special election tied to the November General Election. County results show Bailey Dickerson defeating JW Pope in the Democratic runoff for County Commissioner and Wallace Webb winning the Precinct 3 race in Blue Ridge runoff.

Teens arrested after Trail Grocery robbery in Plano

Two 16 and 17 year olds were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery at Trail Grocery on FM 544 near Preston Road. The pair allegedly fled with several hundred dollars after forcing the Trail couple at gunpoint. A second, unarrested robbery occurred as a McKinney man was assaulted while helping a stalled car, with one suspect later identified as still at large.

Road projects and staff moves at Collin County Commissioners Court

The court approved turning Stacey Road into a farm to market road and rejected using funds to fix FM 544. They weighed a new blacktop proposal for a southeast McKinney road named County Lane. Jan Wisdom was appointed deputy tax assessor and James Edwin Apolito joined the Sheriff's Dept. Pending budget review, a deputy court clerk may be hired in October. The panel also backed a hospital wage scale, a new parking lot plan, and Sheriff Burton’s requested salary adjustments.

Commission OKs Zoning Requests Amid Planning Board Approvals

The Planning and Zoning Commission approved most planning cases Monday night. The final plat of Dallas North Industrial District IV was tabled due to the developer J Stiles Inc being absent. Approved parcels include 56.5 acres at FM 544 and Coit Rd for SF 3 homes, Teak Wood Estates 29 acres SF 2, Parker Plaza West II 22 acres, Willowbrook Square 6.2 acres with 69100 sq ft retail, and Corner Village Shopping Center 10 acres. Commission set June 29 to study the Comprehensive Plan and July 6 for the first regular meeting due to the holiday weekend.

Planeite ATF agent killed in Oklahoma plane crash

An ATF analyst pilot flying from Dallas to Tulsa died when his single engine plane crashed in a residential yard near Plane, Oklahoma. The craft struck power lines after reporting fuel exhaustion and attempted to land on a street before flipping onto the front yard of the Donald Plugge home.
