A UPI survey finds John Connally the preferred vice presidential choice among Texas and nearby state delegates pledged to Nixon. Delegates view Connally as a means to boost GOP chances in November.
Delegates in Texas show a preference for Connally with Reagan as the ticket base while naming William Simon, Sen. Howard Baker, and Rep. Steve Sams as other favored figures. Anne Armstrong is noted as a potential VP pick by some elsewhere, not among Texans headed for Kansas City. Barbara Staff of Dallas voices Connally as her first choice, while noting Connally’s possible reluctance to serve.
The Collin County Board of Realtors Bicentennial Committee seeks donations to move the old George House to Heritage Park. Sub committee chairman Bud Wiser says only about ten percent of the required funds are raised and $13 000 more is needed to ensure a professional move along a planned route from 16th St and Avenue L to the new site at FM 544 and Custer Rd. He urges every Plano family to contribute, noting some builders may help.
Leaders urge citizen participation to move the George Home by September end. PLEA will donate profits from July September paper collections, with donations sent to the Collin County Board of Realtors in Plano. If funds fail, contributions are refundable.

The report indicates rising consumer spending, increased production, and more jobs locally and nationwide.
Workmen prep the airstrip for a Saturday party hosted by former Treasury Secretary John Connally for 300 guests at Picosa Ranch. Connally says the event is social, not political, and he personally mowed nearby grass. The strip rarely used since 1972 Nixon visit.
The Nevada Gaming Commission orders public hearings to decide if Frank Sinatra must hold a state gaming license due to stock ownership. Sinatra and attorney Milton A. Rudin have bought 533,500 Del E. Webb Corp common shares in recent years, linking him to casino operations.
Plano Police log shows few crimes despite 59 calls on Wednesday. Multiple vehicle crashes occurred across Plano and Richardson with several drivers named, including Michael E Lowe, Patricia S Johnson, Betty Y Brannon, Emily H Kremenak, Elfreda P Everett, Birdie N Hix, and Clifton Zimmerman.
The FDA says Valium Librium Miltown and similar tranquilizers may cause birth defects and requires bold-face warnings on packaging. FDA Commissioner Alexander Schmidt notes studies are not conclusive but advise avoiding use in early pregnancy. Hoffmann La Roche disputes the link and contends warnings are overstated.
The Plano Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps drill team will hold a car wash Saturday at the Texaco Service Station on the west access road of Hwy 75 and FM 544. Fees are $1 for cars and $1.50 for pickups to fund an educational fund for the drill team leaders. Proceeds support attendance at an Aug 4–7 leadership and drill course at the University of Texas at Arlington.
