About 2200 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2286 members walked out after rejecting a late contract offer. The stoppage affects Gulf States services to more than 405000 customers from near Navasota, Texas to the Louisiana Mississippi border east of Baton Rouge. In Dallas, Robert S. Marker resigned as president of the Dallas Times Herald effective immediately and will act as marketing consultant. James F. Chambers and Tom Johnson announced the leadership change.

Man Hangs in City Jail

Sparkler Fire Destroys Plano Home, $3,000 Damages
