Planning panel to review NorthPark style center again

The Planning and Zoning Commission will reconvene Monday at 7 30 p m to examine zoning for a regional shopping center. A public hearing was held last month and the SpringPark Development Co request was tabled pending further consideration.

A 257 acre shopping plaza is proposed for southeastern Plano near Loop 9. The site lies about 1500 feet east of the northeast corner of Renner Road and Jupiter Road, with details outlining the location and scope of the project.

Planeite Placed On Serious List After Car Crash

Dawn Hollenbeck Jordan of 36 Ave J was listed in serious condition at Parkland Hospital Dallas after a mid morning crash crossing railroad tracks on Avenue K. A witness said she crossed into the opposite lane, hit an electrical guide wire and flipped, being thrown about 15 feet from the car.

Two Juveniles Nab Vandals as Plano Sees Spate of Mischief

Police report at least 19 cases of criminal mischief cleared with two juveniles arrested. Over a two day span, eight mischief reports were filed and investigations expanded to five vehicle burglaries, three residential burglaries, three bicycle thefts, and two thefts. Four for illegal entry, three shoplifting, two juveniles for BB gun incidents, two on warrants, one each for public drunkenness, intoxication driving, and soliciting without a permit were also arrested. CB antenna recovered and seven fireworks disturbances investigated along with 111 calls for help and 10 minor accidents.

County Cancels Meeting

The Collin County Commissioners Court cancels Monday morning session due to Fourth of July holiday. County Judge Nathan White Jr. is out of town. The next meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday July 14 at the courthouse in McKinney.

Community urged to fund juvenile boat for Plano youths

The juvenile officer in southern Collin County seeks donations to complete a gift project in Plano. Pete Barnes says community backing should supply a motor, gas tank, wiring, and battery for an 18 foot pontoon barge donated by Plano Bank & Trust. Donors already provided paint, brushes, sanding gear, tires, life preservers, and 10 life jackets.
