Nelson International plans a 10 am sale auctioning almost all Plano University property in a five to six hour event. Items include 15 buildings a pagoda style admin block the library books desks dorm furniture and a human skeleton plus a World’s Fair relic pagoda building that may be moved or demolished. About 300 bidders are expected as the sale is on an as is where is basis with categories and lots.

Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson of Dallas announces candidacy for vice chairwoman of the Texas Democratic Party. She aims to boost voter participation and address minority and women’s issues, noting only 20 percent of Texans voted in 1974.
David Connell Cox was arrested by FBI agents in Dallas on counts of attempted extortion seeking $5 million from seven California banks. He was previously indicted June 23 in Los Angeles.
Houston police said the body of Robert Michael Perez, 46, an advertising and promotion director from San Antonio who disappeared April 22, was recovered by a tugboat crew in the Mississippi River near Baton Rouge, Louisiana. An autopsy was ordered and no death cause was yet indicated.
The Plane Fire Dept halted three grass blazes west of SH 289 on Yeary Rd and near Dallas areas at 12:38 PM 1:14 PM and 1:57 PM. Fire Marshal Bill Threet noted additional responses include a Plano East laundry fire that was out, five ambulance calls, a false alarm, a smoke investigation, and a child rescued from a locked room.

A pre construction meeting in McKinney announced improvements at the FM 544 Preston Road intersection. Ashland Oil Co won the contract for these and other area intersection works with a bid of 240 280 and expects six months of activity beginning today.
