Drug Offenders Sent to McKinney

Plano authorities transferred 14 prisoners in Thursday’s narcotics roundup to the Collin County Jail in McKinney. Sixteen arrested on 28 drug counts, including cocaine and phencyclidine, remain in other jails. one juvenile released to parents. Bruce Harralson surrendered after warrant issued. another man held in Dallas County Jail on separate charge. Other incidents include a knife assault at 3412 18th St and multiple thefts, burglaries, and traffic warrants. Police answered 90 calls and investigated seven accidents.

County Debates Sheriff Car Repair Decision Monday

Collin County Sheriff Jerry Burton seeks guidance on replacing a department vehicle or funding a repair after a civil process server crash damaged a near new car with no insurance. Commissioners will also discuss deputy appointment, access to the safety deposit box, and the bond for Precinct 5 constable.

Park Forest North plats and rezoning on Monday agenda

Preliminary plats for Park Forest North Addition will be reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission at 7 30 p m in the municipal building. The 314 acre subdivision includes 1064 residential lots with 250 foot TP and L easement two school sites and three park sites. The commission also considers two rezoning requests from Robert S Folsom Investments including a private club recreation center and a separate request to reclassify 2 3 acres to retail. The city council meets at 6 p m to discuss a bond election and travel expenses for Frank Medanich and Warren. other county budget items and contracts are scheduled for discussion.

Brown Rules Act at Fault

Judge David Brown upheld Duane R. Kinsey as Plano Police Chief and issued an injunction blocking the Civil Service Commission from acting to invalidate the appointment. The court ruled a five year police experience requirement unconstitutional and exempted the chief from related Civil Service provisions.

Trustees See Plans For Gym

Plano school trustees will discuss the physical education addition to Williams High School at 7 30 p m in the administration building. They will review street and utility development near Armstrong and Jackson schools and the multi purpose center, approve change orders for Hughston Elementary and the Senior High, and approve bids for floor covering and band instruments. An inter transfer of funds resolution will be adopted and an executive session will consider sites and personnel.

Piano ISD Expands Drug Policy Authority

School officials clarified that Piano Independent School District applies its drug policy to students found possessing or using drugs at school or off campus. The note follows Plano High School arrests for drug delivery during the district’s largest drug raid. Offense details include indefinite expulsions, possible semester expulsion with credit loss, and mandatory counseling prior to return. Tobacco and alcohol are also addressed with escalating suspensions and no makeup work.

Plano General Hospital appoints new director of volunteers

Plano General Hospital announces Betty Minning as director of volunteers and patient relations. The three year Plano resident and former volunteer at Dallas Presbyterian and Cincinnati Mercy will start January 20. Minning has taught grooming skills with Girl Scouts and authored a widely used book on the subject.
