Plano YMCA Sustaining Campaign Names Randy Wright Chairman

Randy Wright named chairman of the 1976 Plano YMCA Sustaining Campaign by John Waddell. King to Run For Sheriff in Collin County

Plano Council to hear private club permit appeal

The Plano City Council will hear an appeal Monday at 7 30 p m from VFW Post 7106 seeking a private club permit to sell alcohol to members at Plano Plaza Shopping Center near 14th St and Jupiter Rd. The plan faces prior denial by the Planning and Zoning Commission after neighborhood concerns. The council also considers rules to log utility communications with city officials and submit monthly records to the City Secretary.

County Commissioners Set Long Agenda for Monday

Collin County Commissioners Court will meet at 9 a.m. Monday to consider approval of the Federal Aid Urban Highway System for Plano and other items. The agenda includes a bid for an enclosed building at Collin County Youth Park, health system agency approval for 19 counties, financial statements for Collin County Memorial Hospital, elevator maintenance service, road closure in Precinct 2, a previence committee, vacancy in Precinct 3 constable, and an executive session on litigation and personnel. Also on the docket are Lone Star Gas franchise second reading, firearms regulation ordinances, and multiple bids for road and water projects.

Plano Chamber of Commerce Awards Luncheon Set

Last week to reserve for the Plano Chamber awards luncheon scheduled for noon Wednesday January 21 at Los Rios Country Club. Juvenile Justice Panel Slated by Plano LWV

The Plano League of Women Voters will host a 7:30 p.m. panel at the Gladys Harrington Public Library on juvenile justice. Judge Tom Ryan County Juvenile Officer Pete Barnes and Peggy Hawthorne of Child Guidance Center will discuss prevention facilities and support for families and youths suspected of shoplifting car theft or marijuana use.

Plano sees strong finish but poor year for building permits

Plano Building Official Ralph Shick notes 156 single family permits in December, up from November and 1974, yet annual totals show a 16 percent decline. For 1975 the city issued 2,111 electrical, 1,863 plumbing, 1,363 heating and air, 876 fences, 198 swimming pools, and seven moving permits, with total December value at 3,741,900 and yearly permits totaling 46,526,537.

Navy Band to Play in Plano For Wildcat Fund Drive

United States Navy Concert Band will perform at Plano Senior High School gymnasium on Tuesday March 16 to raise funds for the Wildcat Marching Band. Tickets go on sale January 17 with Civitan and Booster Club members handling sales. prices to be announced.
