P and Z approves three agenda items in unanimous vote

The Planning and Zoning Commission approved three items on its Monday agenda. A 643 acre Central Northeast Industrial Park study was approved with possible one acre water storage tank and a school site for Plano ISD. Copper Creek Estates land study approved with deed restrictions for 1600 square foot homes amid 43.5 acres subdivided into 148 detached homes at Parker and Country Place. Los Rios I Addition replat approved with 1800 square foot deed restrictions on 1800 SF SF-1 homes on 11.6 acres at Los Rios Blvd and Los Robles Dr.

Chamber Survey Triggers Debate Over Stadium Delay

A joint dinner with the Chamber of Commerce, PISD School Board and City Council sparked a dispute over a Dec. 9 resolution urging delay of a $2.5 million stadium. Officials questioned the poll’s timing and accuracy as trustees and council members warned against misinformation and delaying plans. The board offered no commitment to halt construction, with further discussion planned at an evening meeting.

Voters Seminar Set by Plano Democrats Tonight

The Plano chapter of the Collin County Democratic Party hosts a voter information seminar at 7 30 p m in the District Court Room at the Collin County Courthouse in McKinney. Advisors from the Secretary of State Election Division will explain 1974 Texas presidential primary laws and delegate selection changes. All Collin County residents are invited.

Weekend Mischief Reports Highlight Multiple Incidents

Plano Police logged eight reports of criminal mischief over the weekend, including water damage to carpets, eggs on a door, broken windows and rocks or BBs striking glass. Additional incidents involved trees felled, auto scratches, vehicle and property damage, and a boat seat fire. Police also handled runaways, bicycle and auto thefts, a motor vehicle burglary, spark plug and battery thefts, and credit card abuse, answering 118 calls and investigating ten accidents.

Tejas 1876 begins in Daily Star Courier column

The new Tejas 1876 column will explore Texas as it was a century ago with weekly installments. It draws from 1876 newspaper accounts compiled by Texas Tech University with researcher Sarah J. Early Morning Fire Saves Perris M Stanley Home

A smoke detector woke Perris M Stanley at 1:08 a.m. allowing evacuation of his wife and children as four Plane Fire Dept units fought a garage and attic blaze at 1505 Fairfield. Fire Marshal Bill Threet said the fire, likely started by an electrical heater, caused extensive damage but the alarm likely saved most of the house.

County considers wolf and coyote trapping options

Collin County Commissioners told Elzie Moon of Melissa they are unsure how to help farmers with wolves and coyotes. Moon proposed a county trapper or bounty and even cyanide guns, while officials promised to study the issue and revisit it at the Jan. 19 meeting.
