Plano Crime Rises After October Dip

A monthly police report to the FBI shows 168 major crimes in November in Plano. Offenses are up 6.3 percent from October and 10.5 percent from November 1975. In November police verified one murder, two rapes, three robberies, and 108 thefts. auto theft fell 66.

Crime rates and arrests reported for past month

The report shows crime rising 6.3 percent with two incidents and burglary down 26 percent with 46 cases. Assaults doubled to six as police cleared 45 thefts, about 40 percent of referrals, and roughly a third of offenses were cleared by arrest. Property stolen in November totaled 48330 with 14743 recovered.

Two Juveniles Arrested in Prairie Creek Burglary

Police arrested two 16 year olds in connection with an attempted break in at the Feed Bag restaurant in Prairie Creek Shopping Center. Earlier another 16 year old was seized near the scene and a third suspect was caught about 18 minutes later in a vacant house. All three are 16.

Seventeen-year-old Garry Lawley Certified as Adult in Williams Murder

Garry Lawley, 17, of 2513 Rockbrook, is certified as an adult to be tried for the murder of 17-year-old Kympion Williams. Williams was shot after a high school football game and found at Overglen and Briarwood. Lawley, 16 at the offense, faces an examining trial and possible remand to juvenile court, with a $15,000 bond posted.

Three Fires Reported Near Indian Hills Area

Firefighters battled three suspicious backyard fires reported by residents within one block. Two blazes were extinguished. neighbors put out the third. Fire Marshal Threet suspects children playing with matches started the fires at 2501 Indian Hills 2604 Teakwood and 2546 Parkhaven. Calls were logged 4 43 p m 6 08 p m and between 4 15 and 5 30 p m. A false alarm at Christie Elementary and an ambulance call were also reported.
