Plano City Mayor Norman Whitsitt praised the Traffic Safety Commission as the council unanimously accepted its recommendations. The plan calls for street lighting at all FM 54 intersections from Custer Rd to Preston Rd and the bridge to Westwood Dr, plus FM 544 east improvements near Ridgewood Dr. to the eastern city limits. Sidewalks are urged on Westwood Dr from Janwood Dr to Springbrook Dr and on Janwood Dr to Jupiter Rd. Parking bans on parts of 15th St and Jupiter Rd are proposed to improve safety for schoolchildren near Bowman Junior High.

Plano Council Approves TP and L Rate Hike and Street Rent Rise
The Plano City Council approved Texas Power and Light Companys rate increase and a 3 percent street rental on annual gross receipts. A fuel adjustment clause was retained. The council also tabled General Telephone tariffs and rejected a 212 unit apartment plan at Jupiter Road and 18th Street. Plans include paving Ave G with eminent domain potential and cost sharing for Ave R improvements to Schell Park. A joint work session with the Planning and Zoning Commission is set for December 18.
