Citizens discuss loitering issue with city officials
A group of nearly 20 concerned residents met city officials to learn how to protect property and personal rights from harassment by youths in retail parking lots. The discussion emphasized self help and legal remedies.
Plano Officials Advise on Loitering and Public Trespass
City Attorney Bill Roberts told merchants at Prairie Creek and Plano North that shopping centers are semi public places with implied invitations to the public. He outlined when trespass or citations can be issued and urged specific witness testimony and affidavits if needed. Also present were Mayor Norman Whitsitt City Manager David Griffin and police officials including Chet Kinsey.

Police took it easy Tuesday with 40 calls for assistance and four theft reports plus one indecent exposure. A stolen car was recovered and two accidents occurred, including a 10:40 a.m. crash between a 1968 Ford driven by Edward Harrington and a 1964 Chevrolet driven by Cosby Jones. A 12:45 p.m. collision at Custer and Park involved a 1969 Ford driven by Neal Mitchell and a 1964 Oldsmobile driven by Terry McGary of Richardson.
