Voter Registration Drive Held Across Plano Areas

Collin County residents 18 plus not yet registered may sign up this Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at local malls. The Plano Jaycees League of Women Voters and AAUW sponsor drives in front of Minyard Kroger Buddies Tom Thumb and two Safeways to boost registration for the PISD 38 million bond and beer wine local option votes. Unregistered voters must register at least 30 days before the September 10 city bond election.

Kennedy to Debut as Rolling Stone Reporter on Elvis Funeral

County Taxes Steady in Collin County Overview

County Judge Nathan E. White Jr. announced Collin County will keep the tax rate at 93 cents per $100 of assessed value, based on 30 percent of appraised value, with a state rate cut lowering taxes for most residents. The commissioners adopted a budget of $5,753,845, up from $5,334,038. The unchanged rate accommodates growing population and maintained services without a rate increase.

Kindergarten Orientation Scheduled in Plano Schools

Orientation for kindergarten students in Plano elementary schools will be held Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the respective schools. Parents may bring their children to meet teachers and learn about the program of study. Class assignments will be announced. Saigling Elementary will skip orientation to allow construction workers more time to finish the school.
