Liquor Ordinance Put On Back Burner By City Council

Three of five major items were referred for study as council members discussed a revenue increase for General Telephone Co an anti loitering measure and the liquor sale ordinance. The 1976 77 budget tax rate and a resolution opposing the RMA airport site were approved unanimously. Spectators left after the liquor issue was tabled as the chamber urged careful consideration.

County Approves Revenue Report in Close to $400K Federal Funds

Collin County Commissioners approved the Actual Use Report showing $124,132 spent on road equipment and $132,417 on punchcard voting machines under public transportation and general governmental operations. The panel also noted $127,470 for property revaluation and $4,500 for County Firemen's Assn. operation. Frisco Mayor Bacchus sought more funds for rural fire protection as Frisco Fire Chief Barton urged county help. County Judge White urged a county wide meeting to assess firefighting costs and possible solutions.

First Day Enrollment Nears 16 400 in Plano ISD

Plano Independent School District reports 16 390 students on first day across 20 schools, with 8 716 elementary and 7 674 secondary students enrolled. District officials expect numbers to rise in coming weeks as classrooms open and teachers begin basic routines.

Police Report On Mischief In Plano Weekend

Police logged 15 mischief reports and 10 thefts in Plano over three days. Eight burglaries were investigated along with an indecent exposure and an assault. four people were arrested for intoxication, curfew, bad checks, and no license. In crashes, 177 calls for help and six accidents were recorded.

Firefighters Contain Several Minor Weekend Blazes

Firefighters extinguished three grass fires near Springcreek and Ranier, US 75 north of FM 544, and Park and Jupiter, with times listed. Trash fires occurred at 18th and Jupiter, behind McDonald’s, and FM 544 Preston Mobil, while six ambulance runs and seven other services were performed.
