Board Pushes Ratio Change for Plano District Tax
The Plano Independent School District board approved a plan to meet fiscal obligations by asking the City Council to raise the assessment ratio for the January 1 1977 tax roll from 70 to 85 percent and to begin an immediate reevaluation of all property for the 1978 tax roll. It also urged periodic reevaluations every third roll and asked Tax Assessor-Collector Don Heston to attend board meetings.

Richardson Youth Faces Facial Surgery After Plano Assault
A 17 year old Richardson youth suffered injuries in an aggravated assault in a Skaggs Albertsons parking lot in Plano. William Rathcamp Jr. was left in fair condition at Garland Memorial Hospital after being jumped by an older man shortly after 1 am Sunday. Police hunt the suspect as other weekend incidents include thefts and burglaries and a heavy Board of Equalization discussion continues.

Wells Receives Service Award for 30 Years in Collin SWCD
Plano farmer and businessman John D. Wells has been honored with a special service award by the Collin County Soil and Water Conservation District Board for three decades of service as member and director. He helped form the district in 1946, chaired the local board 15 years, led Region Five efforts, and aided the Trinity River Watershed Program resulting in over 140 flood control structures in Collin County.
