More than 1400 Texas high school students joined the annual Girls and Boys State programs. From Plano Senior High and Wylie High, participants learned by forming mock cities, passing laws, and holding elections under speakers including Governor Dolph Briscoe. A city wide carnival ends the Parks and Recreation Summer Playground Program tonight from 6 to 9 at Harrington Park Pavilion. Participants run booths such as a fishing pond haunted house and frog races with one 25 cent ticket granting access to all activities. A prize ticket drawing is sponsored by local merchants.

Six Arrested On Routine Charges In Plano Police Report
Plano police arrested six people Tuesday on charges including no license public intoxication and driving while intoxicated. Officers handled burglary reports thefts and five accidents with multiple injuries and property damage. Notable crashes involved vehicles on Avenue K W 15th and the Walnut Cedar Elm area with several residents named in the incident.

Briscoe seeks 825 million for Texas highway fund
Gov. Dolph Briscoe urged moving 825 million from general revenues into the highway fund to preserve federal matching aid and the Texas road system. Bite Victim Seeks German Shepherd After School Incident
Ten year old Jennifer Sones and her mother Mrs Paul Sones seek a large black and tan German Shepherd that bit Jennifer on the hand near Christie Elementary School around 4 to 5 pm Tuesday. The dog fled after the attack and remains at large as Jennifer undergoes rabies shots. A flea collar marked the dog. call 424-1890 with information.
