Tuesday primary results showed two surprises. Courcilmin Levis M Booth failed to win renomination in Second ward, losing to John Dahl by 46 votes. Wilbur P. T. Wilbur led the field for sheriff’s nomination with 569 votes, ahead of Councilman John H. Cons who had 411 as Booth’s open letter and anti liquor stance influenced district leaders. Crone won city treasurer race 1,162 to 362. Nomination lists for city offices and the Freeholder ticket described, along with local business ads and notices.

Narrow escape after Lincol n Highway crash near Stelter
George Gulick Nell Boott and Jo Greene of Plainfield escaped serious harm when their car overturned head on with a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on the Lincoln Highway near Stelter. Greene was pinned and later treated. Gulick and another occupant suffered only cuts and bruises. The other car was driven by John Smith of Delvin Street New Brunswick. he and a female passenger escaped injury. Benich’s car had minor damage and the Plainfield machine was badly damaged and towed to a New Brunswick garage.
