Relatives Hold Albert Gaubt Death Belief Linked to Frederick Sinking

Relatives of Albert Gaubt, a former Deer Street resident, say evidence points to his death in the 1916 sinking of the Frederick off the Orkney Islands. The ship’s loss, part of a Baltic–Russia supply voyage, claimed many crew members. Gaubt survived as an engine room hand but relatives fear he died. Letters found in England hint at messages from doomed crew, rekindling hope among the Gaubt family and prompting damages claims against Frederick’s owners.
