Mereld and Mark Golden celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday June 27 with an open house from 2 to 5 pm at the Plainfield United Methodist Church. Relatives friends and neighbors are invited to attend the event and gifts of 10 to 35 are requested.
MR. MRS. PAUL Lindner of route 1 Waverly celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday June 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. at their home. They wed in Waverly June 28 1936. Hosts are son Roger Lindner and wife Melody with grandchildren Mark Mary and future guests welcome with no invitations sent.
The Hauser reunion drew 46 attendees from Nashua Waverly Greene Clarksville Hampton and Charles City on Sunday June 6 at Nashua Boat Park. The eldest attendee was 82 year old Mrs Freida Quade of Charles City and Lori Kay Hauser infant daughter of Mr and Mrs James Hauser of Waverly was the youngest. Mr and Mrs Dart Lokenvitz of Charles City led this year's event with plans for the 1977 reunion set for the first Sunday in June at Nashua Boat Park.
Nashua Babe Ruths posted a 2-1 record with wins on Monday against Alta Vista 11 to 0 led by Gary Osterman home run and Orlin Sudol strong pitching with 13 strikeouts. Jeff Springer and Osterman continued steady hitting as Nashua beat Elma 10 to 4 on Tuesday.
Betsy Koudsen went 2 for 3 with two RBIs including a two run homer. Carol Tamner also 2 for 3, Becky Hahn 2 for 4, and Kathy Kling Tamer contributed on a bunt force at third and a foul pop up.
Standings show Rudd at 2-1 and Marble Rock 1-2 with Greene 1-7 and Hero Springs 1-1. Meshua records 1-2, while Rockford sits 1-2 and Rockwell 0-2. BR standings listed.
Locals report a Sunday July 4 joint service with United Methodist and First Baptist of Plainfield plus Pleasant Valley and Pleasant Hill churches. A combined choir and children's chorus will perform, with Congressman Charles Grassley speaking on Being Made Anew from 2 Corinthians.
Charles Neils of Plainfield and J Duane Mortensen of Duque are elected co presidents and co vice presidents of Wartburg College Parents Association for a one year term. They will represent parent views to administration, aid with Spring Phonorama and association activities, and plan the annual fall banquet with their spouses assisting as hosts.
In a tense clash at Marble Rock, Nashua built an early 6-2 lead before Marble Rock surged back. Todd Burkle hit a grand slam in the second, Beek rallied for four in the last inning to tie. Marble Rock’s pitcher homered in the seventh to seal a 7 4 victory as Nashua faces Nora Springs next.
