Waverly and Frederika residents ended a two week Tucson visit with relatives joining the LonIA parade. Multiple families from Fredericksburg Pella and other towns traveled to Seattle Yellow Stone Park and Mt Rushmore on their itinerary before returning home.

Clyde Casady released from Allen Memorial after back surgery. 53rd Allen Smith reunion held at Wildwood Park Charles City with 49 attendees. Plainfield Senior Citizens Plan July Picnic and Games
Plainfield Senior Citizens will meet July 12 at 6 p.m. at the new park east of Plainfield for a picnic supper and later at Charles Woodruff's home for progressive games. If rain, the picnic moves to Plainfield United Methodist Church. The group resumes July 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the UMC for progressive games and checkers.

Fishing Derby Awards Won by Scout Pack 86 Burgers
Cub Scout Pack 86 held its annual Fishing Derby with winners including Scott Walker earning Wolf Badge Gold Arrow and two Silver Arrows. Loren Van Baden received two Silver Arrows and Bear Book. Mark Wiltse earned two Silver Arrows and Beat Book. Tom Schrage won first prize a fish pole. Loren Van Ra den earned a fishing reel and knife. Steven Cruse got a minnow pail. Prizes donated by Reints Sport Shop. Next meeting July 28.

Plainfield Area Farmers Form Coop to Buy Mill
Plainfield area farmers formed a cooperative to buy and operate the Plainfield Mill. A steering committee led by David Birkholz and others was named to direct the effort. As of early this week 900 stockholders held $500 shares. Directors elected at Tuesday’s meeting will appoint a manager, with an August 1 formal takeover possible, and the cooperative will affiliate with Farmland Industries of Kansas City. Farmers and their wives toured the Farmland complex in recent weeks.
