Public guidance lists core auto rules covering brakes lights and signals, idling ownership of vehicles, speed near crossings, license plates, commercial plates, weight limits, dimmers, and safe passing of stopped streetcars. Prosecuting Attorney Ernest E. Owens signs the notice for public knowledge.
Rehearsal for the Old Melodies Concert will be held at the library Sunday afternoon at 2 30. The concert is scheduled for Thursday February 19.
Miss Jackson and Mr. Krebs were to present a recital for the library fund but the event has been postponed to a date in March.
Mrs. Julia Warner of Danville, wife of Fred E. Warner a former editor of the Friday Caller, died Monday at St Vincent’s following an operation. She leaves husband Clifford T. Warner of Detroit, five brothers and two sisters. Funeral held at brother Cyrus J. Thompson’s Danville home Wednesday.
Plainfield High School girls basketball, chaperoned by Miss DeWeese, traveled to Monrovia Tuesday night. Despite strong defense and many set plays by Monrovia, Plainfield held the score low, the visit ending with hospitality at the Warners home. Additional notes cover class activities, Burns birthday program plans, and spring poetry from the Senior English class.

Miss Jessie Sims compared styles and traits with poets such as Sarojini Naidu and Jessie B Rittenhouse. Vocal numbers followed by Mrs. Charles Symons and Miss Mary Sims. The Cycle of Life was postponed to the next meeting. The Civic Dept will meet tomorrow at Mrs J E Prewitts home.
Plainfield Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star hosted the Masonic Lodge and families for the annual installation of officers. W A Rushton aided by Dora Holsclaw and Amos Taylor installed officers including Iva Inman Chester Miller Mary Hessler Edna New Eleanor Cooper Amos Taylor Hortense Hanna Fannie Cox Daphine Rushton Vera Glidewell and Elizabeth Pike. The remaining officers will be installed later. An informal program of music and readings followed with light refreshments served.
Three of the five children of the late George G Little hire lawyers to contest a will giving all property valued at 150000 to his widow. The 80 year old Alexandria settlor died three weeks ago. Heirs allege incompetency unsound mind and undue influence. The deceased was T H Little's brother.
William Bockius and Miss Maude Hinshaw were married in Monrovia on Friday January 16 with Rev. Murphey officiating. The couple will reside on the Bockius farm with his mother Mrs Amanda Bockius.
In Plainfield the Old Bunch beat the Mooresville Elks in a hard fought hop game as the locals rallied late to win. Smart led the Elks with seven field goals while all Old Bunch players starred with speed and teamwork fueling the decisive run. The Old Bunch had earlier defeated L. Leaders at the Y M C A floor, 27 29, for their fourth straight win. They set up a showdown with the South Side Turners next week led by Rice Secrece and Hennessay.
An air tank explosion at the National Single Bled Serum Plant east of town damages the reduction plant and injures engineer Bert Smith. Bricks blown from walls wreck cooker equipment. opening delayed while repairs and a new cream pump replace the vacuum system and tank. Mr Smith suffered non serious injuries.
The Denatin University Glee Club will present a high quality show at the opera house on February 2 under the Senior Class. Thirty male voices plus a string quartet and reader will perform with supports from nearby University of Plainfield. Tickets range 25 cents for children and 50 cents for adults.
Will Harvey of Fowler Kansas arrived late Wednesday night to surprise his father Mr. John Harvey on the 80th birthday anniversary. He has lived in Kansas eleven years after leaving Indiana and plans a two to three week visit before returning to resume duties as assessor for eight years.
A letter from Captain David F. Boyd of the U S S Olympia at Constantinople notes that war savings stamps follow the fleet around the world. In the Mediterranean squadron, government savings securities are part of the ships’ efforts amid Asia Minor affairs, with Lieut. H K Koebig placed in charge of thrift on the vessel. Captain Boyd assures cooperation from himself and his crew.
Hendricks county public health nursing committee, appointed by Otis KE Gulley of the county Red Cross, met at the Red Cross room in Danville. Mrs Ina M Gaskill of Indianapolis urged nurse employment and outlined work. Mrs Walter Hadley chairs. Members include Mrs J J Prewitt Guilford township and others across Franklin Lincoln Clay Eel River Liberty Marion Union Center and Washington townships and doctors Dr Armstrong and Walter Hadley.
The Conference of Friends A Forward Movement Conference met at the local Friends church Monday evening with three sessions planned for Tuesday and a Tuesday noon dinner in the dining room. The event followed a state meeting in Indianapolis last weekend to brief church workers on the Forward Movement campaign under the Inter Church World Movement. President Edwards of Earlham College Ward Applegate of Noblesville and Mrs Mary White of Ame comference attended Monday and Tuesday.
A S Miles' prize winning birds captured a silver cup for best Brown Leghorn exhibit and won multiple firsts and seconds at the Poultry and Pet Stock Association show in Springfield Ohio. He plans to enter more birds at Tomlinson Hall Indianapolis next week as local fanciers prep for the state show.
Peter Wise father of Mrs. Frank Moore died at Anderson after paralysis struck him last Tuesday He passed away Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter Mrs Dudley Brarard Funeral held at Lewisville Monday afternoon Mrs Moore will stay with her mother at Lewisville for several days
Elwood Stephenson sells his homestead with three lots to Will Heringlake who will occupy soon. Elwood also buys the D. H. Hornaday residence on Church Street for his family. Hornaday moves to his new home on West Main Street bought from Arthur Shaw. Ralph Hornaday, with his family, moves in with his father after selling to Hadley Almond.
Born at 403 West Jackson street in Muncie two daughters of Dr. and Mrs. S M Friedly are Helen and the younger sister. The Friedlys are former residents of the town with Dr Friedly being a son of Mr and Mrs J F Friedly who lived east of the town.
