The Plainfield Gazette is published weekly on Thursdays by William M. Drake & Son at Front-et printing office opposite the 2nd Presbyterian Church. Village subscribers pay one dollar and twenty five cents yearly in advance, mail subscribers one dollar yearly. A fifty cent surcharge applies if not paid in advance and the paper continues until payment.
On Thursday November 1 1849 plans announce the Somerville to Whitehouse rail extension a one mile segment opened for travel on October 16 shortening staging to Easton and the terminus.
A preacher argues the heaven of angels is a state of spiritual life, not a place in space. He contrasts heaven with material earth, defines spirit as active and knowable, and urges living virtuously to gain heavenly joy in love, wisdom, and service.
