The Plainfield Gazette announces weekly publication by William M. Drake & Son with Front Street offices. Subscriptions: Village one dollar and twenty five cents in advance. Mail one dollar per year in advance. Delinquent payments incur fifty cent late fee. paper not discontinued until arrears are paid. Job printing offered at low cash prices.
A descriptive notice of a new comprehensive reference work published in monthly parts by Appleton and Co New York. It covers mechanics, engine work, and engineering with nearly two thousand pages and six thousand wood cuts. It lists related works and references across civil engineering, steam engines, machine tools, and industrial arts from multiple European and American sources.
The publishers announce a vast dictionary of machinery covering cotton flax wool calenders bleachers calico printing and many trades. It will include plates with large working drawings and cost 25 cents per number with 40 numbers total issued semi monthly starting January 1850. A $10 advance grants free post office delivery and liberal agent discounts.
