James Hahn, a young laborer, was shot and killed by Policeman Goule on Raritan main street after a clash with a gang of four to six toughs. The officer says he fired when attacked during an arrest attempt. witnesses claim Hahn was shot without provocation. The officer and four gang members were detained for questioning.
Elijah Robinson, a colored man, was arrested by Officer Lynch for attempted assault and disorderly conduct in a saloon. He was fined $5, Patrick Murphy, under the influence of some substance, was taken into custody by Officer Keily.
