The Union resumes grand jury work as Judge Van Lyn Elth presides over civil cases. Weather, church attendance, local sermons, social visits, allotments of prizes and parties fill a daybook of Plainfield life with notes on weddings, birthdays, naturalizations, and recreation.
A morning session at William T Broadway’s Laurand Avenue residence gathered legal talent to hear Mrs Stout’s testimony in the Job Male will dispute. Attending were former Chancellor Runyon former Governor Bedle V Lindabury Charles A Reed Craig A Marsh and H W Knight. Mrs Strat aged eighty five gave clear testimony aligning with his counsel Endicott Davis and others.
A wagon driven by Warner of Felcville and a companion was overturned when their horse bolted on North avenue near the pod depot last evening. Both occupants escaped serious injury. the buggy was wrecked.
Notice to Odd Pellews states that male members desirous of joining the order should attend the new lodge formation to be instituted Monday evening. Members are requested to meet in Perseverance Lodge rooms this evening at eight o'clock.
Thomas Fahey, who fled from police Friday night after assaulting his wife, was arrested Saturday afternoon by Sergeant Lynch. He pled guilty before City Judge Codington and received a forty day sentence in the county jail.
Two precocious girls Annie Rit tenhouse and Fannie Moorecraft were arrested on Friday for assaulting a ten year old. They faced arraignment before Judge Cod ington on Saturday and were found guilty. After a severe reprimand, they were released with a warning not to appear in court again.
A disturbance broke out in Cot tage Place involving a small Hungarian colony. Officers Kiely and Fredrickson went to the scene but found peace restored with no interpreter available, making it impossible to determine details. no arrests were made.
A Sunday School class titled An Introductory Study in the Book of Genesis led by Mr. Charles B. Brown meets this evening at 8 o’clock in the church classroom. The class, now over forty members, is free and open to any city resident to join.
General C C spoke to a large audience at the First Bap Church yesterday afternoon after cheerful singing. He shared heartfelt experiences and urged love and restraint, engaging young men hoping to join the ministry. A college quartet will sing next Sunday at the Methodist Church, and a short address by A C La Boyteau will follow.
