Marriage at Sea Chapter VII on the shipboard union
On a British merchant ship a captain asserts authority to marry two passengers at sea. Captain Parsons states the master may perform the ceremony aboard and declares the couple eloping with Miss Bellassys aboard as Mrs Barstow and Miss Moggadore counsel the match. The guardian Mr Higginson questions legality while the crew and passengers react to the sea wedding plan.
