Strange column of odds and ends in a stray 19th century scroll
A patchwork of notes reports on fashion in Malifield and New York, a secretary with a black eye, a fast new passenger engine near ninety one miles per hour, and a push to curb cigarettes in Massachusetts. It mentions Miss Tda Sweet cleaning city streets, Dr. Porkhorst before a New York grand jury, and a Jackson Mississippi speech praising Southern progress. Also notes a lamp frog fossil anecdote and tobacco debates signaling rising anti smoking sentiment.
