Crescent League Elects George Tobin and Local News Updates
George Tobin was elected a Crescent League member on Wednesday. Officer Charles Glesse has had a relapse and he and his wife are confined to bed. Willam R Mattos received his pension papers dating from June 27, 1888 after about fifteen years. John Harkins, the Earl’s crack pitcher, is employed in the city and hopes to play well next season. Mrs. C Hermance, formerly of Woodland Avenue, is confined to the house in New York City. Timothy O. Morne, father of Mrs. William A. Freeman, remains very ill with little hope of recovery. Sergeant Lynch, recently ill, left sick bed for court but his services were not needed as the case was adjourned. About thirty young people attended a party hosted by Miss Edith Smalley on Belvidere Avenue with dancing and refreshments until midnight.

Runaway on Park Avenue Endangers Two Women
Half past eleven this morning a runaway on Park Avenue near Fourth Street nearly dragged Mrs Manning of Albert Street and Mrs Manning of Dunellen Avenue from their sleigh. Michael Higgins leapt to grab a rein line to save them as the horse struck Hoagland’s express wagon. The sleigh suffered only shock. a wagon spring broke. John Kelly restrained the horse and calmed the situation. Witnesses called it miraculous.
