Dashed on Holyhead as Osseo sinks with all hands
The British bark Osseo of 1399 tons commanded by R. Boggs sank on the Holyhead breakwater during a gale after striking amidships. Nine bodies were recovered and the wreck identified from papers washed ashore. Other vessels, including the Frey and Sarnia, faced dismastings and towing dangers as stormy weather disrupted ships, trains, and telegraphs.
