A massive explosion at a frozen explosive shaft near Long Island yesterday wrecked nearby buildings. Five people died and many were injured, with the dead including Petro Bocou and Henry O'Brien’s sister-in-law. An ambulance from St. John’s hospital and many doctors assisted, as flames spread through a third floor. Investigators say the cause is unclear, but preliminary notes point to cartridge storage and thawing procedures.
