Last Albany Legislature to Shape Cities and Offices
The coming session in Albany will be pivotal as it has limited power to alter salaries or office terms, and its sole task is to perfect city charters under the new constitution. Governor Morton will present a message outlining party policy on apportionment, taxation, home rule for cities, and civil service reforms, with emphasis on reducing costs and enforcing ethics.

The claimant, claiming to be the missing son of Sir Roger Tichborne, alleged he and eight crewmen survived a wreck and lived as Castie in Australia for 13 years. The Dowager Lady Tichborne accepted him as her son, but courts ruled him an impostor. Perjury and forgery charges followed Arthur Orton in 1874 with a 14 year hard labor sentence and later ticket of leave.
