In Wyoming a presbytery meeting at First Presbyterian church considered second and third charges against Professor Henry Prewtred Smith of Lane Seminary. The vote on the second charge was 88 to 90 against Smith. on the third, 77 in favor of the accused. A committee of Dr. James Ritchie, Mar Well, Eljors Spraail, and Eudely Kerm was appointed to fix penalties and report. Emancipation and forbidden love across eras emerge
Fragments from a Detroit Free Press piece and others mix emancipation, romance, and comic vignettes. A woman asserts independence while a suitor pressures, a kitchen tale turns sour with a jaw injury, and ancient lamp legend threads through Persian shrine lore. The text blends sensational anecdote with period social commentary.
