Evizazeth December 3 A Meeker family child at 848 Cross Street was found with smallpox after several days of illness. Neighbors and household members aided the child. Officials quarantined the pesthouse and the residence to curb spread.

Board of Trustees pending decision on the old Seventh Day Baptist Church in the city. They expect no immediate action until the New Market church responds to an offer. Possible outcomes include sale for apartments rather than demolition to avoid leaving the building unused.
Members of the First Church of Christ held a last meeting at their church on Gore wheel. The building has been rented to the Plymouth Brethren who are now in possession.
