Dr Lewin of Crescent Avenue Church denounces dangers facing the nation amid migration, liquor, and moral decline. He urges a sober, orderly day of reflection and notes rising foreign born population and urban pressures shaping future policy.
A pleasant Winner party was given by A. D. Salield at Norwood avenue home for Nicrenda and relatives from the city and beyond. Guests included Mr and Mrs Thomas F Patterson, Thomas F Patterson Jr, and Horses Wo Patterson of New York, Miss Celle Hemphreys, and Thomas F Salkeld of Mesun, Mrw kampmed and daughter, and Tw Palbeld of this city.
The Crescent Wheelmen hosted a 20 mile road race on Park Avenue yesterday morning with 15 entrants. Thomas A Coming and Charles W Rydell finished neck and neck for first, amid judging disputes over a finish foul. W F Smith and N B Thsworth abandoned earlier. A Barnett posted the best time starting from scratch. Prizes awarded last night at Crescent Wheelmen headquarters by Aaron Kilne.
At six o'clock last evening Misa Eama F Brown of this city and Stev ie Lane of Riverteld L L united in marriage at 64 Weetervelt avenue with Rev. Bartes and Rev. Schenck presiding. Twenty one guests were served refreshments as the couple plan to reside in Rivers Head. An apple damping party on East Third street attracted many friends earlier in the week. Shooting at Washingtonville saw Allen Quud dington lead in score at a club blue rock event. Nearby, a Crescenta Riding Club outing and a Justice Mosher summons in Roberts v Sullivan color the social scene with local names and happenings.
Miss Emma Herlich wed Rudolph Kerstleg at the groom’s Man ning avenue residence with Rev Edward Kionka officiating. Miss Katie Williams served as bridesmaid and Schleif acted as best man. Guests included H Leifke Gaston and wife, Charles Denekian, Adam Hertch, Innellen reps, Nischwitz couple, Schleif, Charles Staton, Henry Hertich, Edward Vroom, Lona Keller and Coles, with a collation and dancing to follow.
Mrs. Sarah Stout of East Sixth Street Ned died Wednesday after an attack of apoplexy following a health decline overnight. At six o'clock she planned to retire and was found unwell by her daughter Mrs. Tamman. She was 16, grandmother of Mrs. Barnes of Norwood, and the interment is set for Peekskill beside her husband.
The Independent Fife and Drum Corps paraded in blue capes after a Perth Amboy gig for a bail. Celebrations included a Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Mr. and Mrs. P F Kreitling with guests from New York and Brooklyn, plus church decor and a missionary collection. About 125 attended the Watchung house social with 28 Plainfielders joining the dance until 4:30 AM. Justice Mash's court awarded $115.12 and costs in Tunison et al vs Harned.
